Camps

Last updated 11 September 2026. Report a discrepancy through the GeoNations Discord.

A camp is a temporary claim created by placing the Camp block supplied on first join.

You got a Camp block in your hotbar the first time you joined. It is the campfire. Put it down in the wilderness and the nine chunks around it become yours.

The terms

CostFree
Size9 chunks, a 3 by 3 square with the campfire in the middle
Lifetime2 days, counted from the moment you place it
How manyOne at a time
NameGenerated for you as YourNames_Camp
UpkeepNone

A camp protects an initial storage and building area while the player selects and purchases permanent claims.

Camp names

The underscore is part of the name.

A camp uses the format YourNames_Camp, without an apostrophe or space. Enter the underscore when using the name in a command:

/lands invites accept YourNames_Camp

Capitalisation does not matter. A space in place of the underscore may cause the command to fail without displaying an error. The invitation can also be accepted through /lands menu.

Protection and restrictions

While active, a camp provides the same block and container protection as a paid Region. It has the following restrictions:

You can trust other players into a camp. Two people sharing a two day camp while they scout for permanent ground is a perfectly good plan.

Expiry timer

The two day duration begins when the Camp block is placed. When the duration ends, the claim is deleted immediately and all nine chunks become unclaimed. There is no grace period or separate chat warning.

Expiry display

The hologram above the Camp block displays the Region name, inbox, and remaining duration. The same countdown appears in the camp entry in /lands menu.

Expiry behavior

Expiry does not remove or roll back buildings and containers. It removes the claim protection. The blocks remain in wilderness and can then be broken or looted under the rules for unclaimed ground. See Claiming and regions.

Before expiry, purchase the required chunks or move the stored items to another protected location. If you have no Region yet, /claim founds one and takes the chunk you are standing in for $250; after that, /land [your region name] claim takes each further chunk.

Camp block behavior

It is a campfire named Camp, with a description that spells out the lifetime and the radius, and a hidden stamp with your account on it. Three things follow from that:

Death and corpses

The Camp block is an item in your inventory and it obeys the same rules as everything else in there. Die and it goes into your corpse with the rest of your pack, where anyone who reaches it first can take it (see Dying). There is no special protection on the Camp block, and none on anything else you are carrying.

Transfer to another player

The stamp is not enforced for camps. If somebody loots your corpse and walks off with your Camp block, it works for them, and placing it makes a camp named after them. What they cannot do: touch your existing camp with it, place it inside anyone's claimed chunks, or hold more than one camp, same as everybody.

A player who takes the block can use it to claim nine wilderness chunks for two days only if that player has no active camp. The block does not grant access to the original owner's camp.

Server and player sales

A plain campfire has a server shop value of $1.68. The Camp block contains additional hidden data, so it does not match the plain campfire listing and /sellall will not sell it. It may still be transferred through /trade, listed on /ah, or sold through a player shop.

If a placement is refused cleanly (you already own a camp, the ground is claimed), the block comes back to your hand. There is a rare case where placement errors out and the block is consumed with no camp. If that happens, do not stand there clicking, go get a replacement.

Replacement Camp blocks

Type /guide and click the campfire. The command menu has a Camp block tile that hands you a replacement. /camp, /commands and /help all open the same menu. The replacement works, but the limit still applies: it only places while you own no camp. Spare blocks do not give you a second camp.

Using the temporary claim

The two day duration is long enough to test a location before purchasing claims. The following sequence avoids losing storage or building outside the area that will become the permanent Region.

  1. Use the live map and, if necessary, additional random teleports before placing the Camp block. Each random teleport costs $50 and has a five minute cooldown.
  2. Set a home at the selected location. A camp protects land but does not create a respawn point.
  3. Place the Camp block where the permanent Region will be created. The protected area is a fixed 3 by 3 square and cannot be expanded.
  4. Check the countdown above the Camp block or in /lands menu when returning to the area.
  5. Before expiry, claim the chunks that contain the base and storage or move the contents elsewhere.

Purchasing a permanent claim does not require waiting for the camp to expire. The first permanent chunk costs $250 and is taken by /claim, which founds your Region on the chunk you are standing in. Later chunks come from /land [your region name] claim and follow the increasing price listed on the Regions page.
